TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast called the approach of pressure, threat and sanction against the Iranian nation "failed strategy."
His remarks came after the EU imposed fresh round of sanctions against Iran.
Oil embargo against Iran by the E.U. aims at psychological war and propaganda, he added.
"Economic embargo against Iran under the pretext of our peaceful nuclear enrichment is an illogical and unfair move which fails to impede the Iranian nation's move for access to its basic right," Mehmanparast said.
"Any country which deprives itself from Iranian energy market will see that it will be replaced by other rivals," he continued.
"Seemingly, creating disorder in providing energy needs of the U.S. rivals in future, has been put on the U.S. officials' agenda and they attempt to undermine their economic rivals under the pretext of political pressures against Iranian nation."
On Monday, the foreign ministers of the 27-member body agreed on oil embargo against Iran, a major OPEC member, and freeze on assets of the Iranian Central Bank across the European bloc.
The European Union has also imposed a ban on the sale of gold, diamonds, and other precious metals to Iran.
Iran summoned Denmark ambassador to the country following the new round of oil sanction imposed by the European Union against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
