Antagonists of Iran not sincere in finding peaceful solution for its nuclear issue
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
New Delhi, Jan 11, IRNA -- Iran on Wednesday said that its antagonists are not sincere in finding peaceful solution of its nuclear issue.
“The antagonistic policies of America and the Zionist regime of Israel towards Iran have nothing to do with its nuclear program as this issue is merely a pretext for securing their illegitimate interests like controlling the energy resources of the region and preventing the Islamic Republic from becoming an ideal to be emulated by others,” said Iran Embassy in New Delhi in response to the editorial “Belligerent Tehran” and a letter under the title “Iran must open reactors to scrutiny”, published here in English daily “The Pioneer” on December 30, 2011 and January 4, 2012, respectively.
The press section of the embassy in a letter to the editor of the said paper said: “Most of the strategic analysts of the world and also India believe that the antagonistic policies of America and the Zionist regime of Israel towards Iran have nothing to do with its nuclear program as this issue is merely a pretext for securing their illegitimate interests like controlling the energy resources of the region and preventing the Islamic Republic from becoming an ideal to be emulated by others.
The antagonists of Iran have never been sincere in finding a peaceful solution for its nuclear issue. All concrete confidence building measures taken by Iran were ignored and, instead, a belligerent attitude like intensification of sanctions, killing of nuclear scientists, directing cyber attacks and undertaking espionage activities were adopted. Some of the confidence building measures taken by Iran include the following: Unprecedented access to the Iranian nuclear installations was provided to the inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and intensive inspections were performed for more than 4000 man hours. Permission was given to the IAEA to install cameras in the Iranian nuclear installations for filming all activities. All material produced in these installations is sealed by the IAEA officials. Iran voluntarily suspended all its activities related to the uranium enrichment for a period of two and a half years in the hope that its legitimate requirements will be met according to its rights under the NPT. Iran signed the nuclear fuel swap agreement with Brazil and Turkey. Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, issued a fatwa declaring the nuclear weapons as haram (prohibited). The President of Iran proposed to stop the activities of enriching the uranium up to 20 percent if it was provided with 20 percent enriched uranium for medical research purposes. All these activities show that Iran has always cooperated and is always willing to cooperate with others. But unfortunately no positive response was ever given to its peaceful gestures.
Unfortunately, some sections of the media in their news items, reports, articles and editorials use terms and a language which creates a wrong impression about the nuclear program of Iran and try to convince their readers and audience that it is not peaceful.
Referring to a caricature published on the editorial page of the same newspaper on January 5, 2012, the embassy said that publishing such an offensive and insulting cartoon about Iran which has rendered great services to the human knowledge and civilization of the world is not acceptable to the civilized people.
In the end it should be stated that the record of the US and the Zionist regime of Israel shows that they really do not have the moral authority to speak about peace, justice, human rights and democracy.
