Soltanieh: Fordo nuclear site operating under IAEA supervision

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Vienna, Jan 10, IRNA -- Iran's IAEA envoy, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, said on Tuesday that Fordo nuclear site is operating under full supervision of the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency.

'IAEA is monitoring all activities at Fordo nuclear site. The Fordo site is not new and the IAEA has since the beginning had presence and full supervision on all phases of the facility's completion,' said Soltanieh.

Asked about the purpose of 20 percent enrichment at Fordo site, Iran's envoy said, 'As announced officially to the IAEA, the 20 percent enriched uranium will be used for humanitarian purpose of providing fuel for Tehran medical research reactor to produce radio isotopes and radio medicines. The project is fully humanitarian and peaceful and certain hues and cries in that concern are politically motivated to divert public opinion from reality.'
