TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran unveiled two kinds of superlight personnel carriers and armored ambulance in Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) ground forces' military drill.

The major phase of the drill dubbed "Martyrs of Unity" and underway in eastern borders of Iran started Monday during which commando and armored units attacked the hypothetical enemy in 5 phases. The exercise kicked off Saturday.

Armored units launched missiles at pre-determined objectives and air defense and shoulder launched missiles backed by artillery fire shut at targets. Also the enemy's drones were targeted in the military drill.

Locally-invented tactics are used in the exercise.

On Saturday, December 24, Iran's Navy staged a massive 10-day naval exercise, covering an area stretching from the east of the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Aden.

Over the past years, Iran has gained considerable progresses in defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in manufacturing key military equipment and systems.

The country has repeatedly announced that its military might is merely based on defense doctrine and deterrence of any attack and poses no threat to other countries.
