Iran says nuclear plant to gain full power generation capacity soon

TEHRAN (ISNA)-The Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani said Bushehr nuclear power plant would achieve full power generation capacity early February.
Abbasi-Davani speaking to reporters in the 19th nuclear industry achievements show Saturday said Bushehr nuclear power plant would reach its full power, generating 1000 megawatt nuclear power during the "10-day dawn" which starts on February 1st --Iranian Revolution anniversary in which the nation removed Mohammad Reza Pahlavi from power.
He noted Iran would announce promising news on nuclear programs in the near future. Iran opened the 19th nuclear industry achievements show Saturday attended by Fereydoun Abbasi.
The exhibition which closes on Wednesday includes Iranian nuclear achievements in agriculture, medicine, industry, atomic power plants, nuclear industries equipment, uranium enrichment and nuclear fuel cycle.
Abbasi stressed Iran is undergoing international hardships and pressures, noting major part of Iranian nuclear industry is developed indigenously.
Iran has made important breakthroughs in defense and nuclear domains over recent years despite sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council over its refusal to abandon peaceful uranium enrichment.
Also the U.S. and the EU have imposed unilateral sanctions against Iran.
Iran insists that as a Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) member state has the right to employ nuclear technology for peaceful purposes including power generation and medical needs.
However, the West accuses Iran of seeking nuclear arms, Tehran denies the allegation.
