Iran welcomes release of Iranian sailors from captivity by US forces

Tehran, Jan 7, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry on Saturday welcomed release of 13 Iranian sailors from captivity of Somali pirates by the US forces.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told IRNA that the release of Iranian sailors by the US forces has been a humanitarian action, adding that campaign against sea pirates is an international obligation.
He termed the action of the US forces as humanitarian, and said that Iran has conducted such operations in the past in line with the international campaign against sea pirates to release sailors of other nations.
