Navy commander terms Velayat 90 military drills as successful

Chabahar, Jan 3, IRNA -- Navy commander Admiral Habibollah Sayari said on Tuesday the naval forces have successfully conducted the Velayat 90 war games in the Persian Gulf waters, adding that the Navy is to broaden the scope of the military drills next year.
Speaking to reporters, the admiral said the Yelayat 90 war game was staged to demonstrate the combat readiness and ability of the Iranian naval forces to defend the country’s territorial waters.
The Iranian forces should enhance its combat readiness by acquiring sophisticated and modern weapons and equipment and augment their technological know-how, he said.
The military budget of the global arrogance exceeds dlrs 800 billion and Iran is not afraid of the enemies and believes that they are vulnerable, he said.
The global arrogance seeks to dominate the world but the Islamic Republic of Iran is set to defend it, he said.
The Iranian naval forces have successfully demonstrated their capabilities over the past three years, he said.
Iranian naval gunboats and destroyers sailed past the Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi on the last day of Velayat 90 military war game.
