Defense minister stresses importance of public presence

Tehran, Dec 31, IRNA -- Defense Minister Brigadier-General Ahmad Vahidi said on Saturday that people's support for the Islamic Republic system plays a pivotal role in deterring hostile approach of enemies of Islam and Iran.
Addressing his ministry's staff, Vahidi stressed that the Epic of Dey 9 portrayed affection of Iranian nation regarding the Islamic Republic aspirations, the Supreme Leader and Islamic values.
On December 30, 2009 (Dey 9), millions of people took to the streets nationwide to voice their support for the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Islamic Republic system. It was a heavy blow to the enemies of the Islamic Republic and the Iranian nation.
The move demonstrated national solidarity for combating sedition as well as the domestic and foreign plots, he said.
