Larijani: IRGC plays key role in maintaining country's security

Tehran, Dec 28, IRNA -- Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Wednesday that the Islamic Revolution's Guard Corps (IRGC) has played a key role in maintaining the security of the country's air space.
According to the Press Bureau of Majlis, Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with commanders and personnel of IRGC Air Force in Tehran.
Since the early stages of the Islamic Revolution the IRGC has played a leading role in dealing with the plots of enemies, he said.
IRGC successfully aborted hijacking of passenger planes and helped lessen people’s anxiety to this effect, he said.
IRGC has always maintained its combat readiness which is vital in dealing with various conspiracies of the enemies, he said.
There is no doubt that the enemies keep trying to disturb the country’s orders though various means such as assassination of nuclear scientists and for this reason it is necessary to strengthen solidarity between people and IRGC, he said.
The vigilance of IRGC personnel has so far foiled the plots of the enemies, he said.
