Salehi: Regional countries should not let US misuse their air space

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Dec 15, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on Thursday called the incursion of US spy drone to Iran’s air space as an hostile and aggressive act and urged the neighboring states not to let the US misuse their land and air space.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Salehi said “We have called on the Afghan government to seriously pursue the case and under no circumstances let such events happen again as such events will be regarded as unfriendly.'

Asked about the current Tehran-London relations, he regretted that the angry students attacked the UK embassy in Tehran and said that Britain’s reaction was very hasty and illogical.

On prospects of Tehran-London relations, he said: “We have no proposal for England, but we believe that we have not severed relations with UK. We regard Majlis decision as the criterion to Tehran-London relations.

“We do our best to broaden and deepen ties and minimize the political impacts of international issues on Tehran-London ties,” he said.

On achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran to produce 20 percent fuel for Tehran medical and research reactor, he said that within coming two months the first 20 percent fuel output of Iran will be loaded to Tehran reactor.

Iran had demanded the International Atomic Energy Agency to make arrangements with fuel suppliers including France to supply 20 percent fuel for Tehran medical and research reactor.

But, the IAEA failed to implement its obligations envisaged in the Charter of the UN Agency on procurement of fuel from the nuclear states to Tehran medical reactor.

Tehran medical reactor produces isotopes and medicines for 40,000 Iranian patients suffering from cancer.

The urgent need to produce medicines for cancer patients made Iran to produce 20 percent fuel to maintain operation of Tehran medical reactor.
