TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast called remarks of Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister "astonishing."
Mehmanparast made the remarks in response to Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal who claimed in Persian Gulf Cooperation Council ministerial meeting that Iran is interfering in the internal affairs of regional countries.
"Instead of making accusations against other countries, Saudi officials are expected to revise their policy toward Iran and other regional states," Mehmanparast added.
“We have always emphasized that all countries should cooperate and seriously participate in global disarmament,” Mehmanparast noted.
"Western states and Zionist regime are raising concerns about Iran's peaceful nuclear program to divert attention from their own nuclear arsenals, which threaten regional and global security," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman added.
On November 23, the Saudi foreign minister accused Iran of "continued meddling in the internal affairs of the countries of the region."
Faisal also said he believes that Iran's nuclear program could pose a threat to regional security.
Mehmanparast highlighted peaceful nature of Iranian program and said, "We have always reiterated that all countries should work on global nuclear disarmament."
