TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran would use domestically-built "Bavar 373" missile system, a substitution for S-300 missile system, in its aerial defense, said Commander of Khatamol al-Anbiya Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili.

He made the remarks after the 4-day drill accomplished in eastern Iran on Monday. The military maneuver included using tactical surveillance system, mobile and fixed guards as well as mobile radar and domestically-made systems in confronting war game.

"The designing phase of Bavar 373 missile system enjoying more capabilities comparing to S-300 missile is to be completed soon," he continued.

"We do not think about S-300 missile and we believe that the domestically-built system is not a substitution for S-300 missile and it enjoys higher and more advanced capabilities."

Russia has refused to sell S-300 missile to Iran under the excuse of sanctions imposed against the country, although Tehran and Moscow had already concluded an agreement on S-300 missiles. Iran said it would pursue the issue legally.

Iran is under 4 rounds of the UN Security Council sanctions over its refusal to halt peaceful enrichment work. Iran insists that it has the right to use uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes as a NPT member state. The sanctions mainly target Iran's baking and insurance sectors as well as energy fields.
