TEHRAN (ISNA) - The Head of Iran's Interests Section in Egypt Mojtaba Amani said all-out diplomatic relation between Iran and Egypt is expected to be re-established after the country's election.

“The climate was proper for resuming ties after the Egyptian Revolution victory and even the Egyptian former Foreign Minister Nabil al-Arabi had hailed normalizing the relation with Iran, but resuming ties was put off due to the U.S. and Zionist regime’s pressures and Egyptian internal problems," Al Quds Al Arabi daily quoted Amani as saying.

He added, “The U.S and Zionist regime are against resumption of Tehran-Cairo relations because it would not be in their interests, but Egypt should disagree with all pressures and I believe they would disagree with the U.S and Zionist regime's approaches.”

As to the U.S. recent allegation which claimed Iran was involved in a plot to assassinate Saudi Arabian ambassador to Washington, Amani stressed, “Everyone knows that the U.S. allegation is just a lie and Iran could not be involved in such an action. The claim aims at making Tehran to accept opening mutual talks with the US administration.”

He added, “Iran would be committed to provide Egypt with all facilities as soon as bilateral relation is resumed."
