TEHRAN (ISNA)-The Chairman of Iran's Parliament Commission of National Security and Foreign Policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi said the US suggestion on opening talks with Iran is just a "joke."
Boroujerdi said, “The US offering on opening talks with Iran is just a joke and there is no position for the US harsh and violent policies in the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
As to the US Secretary of Sates Hillary Clinton’s recent remarks, Boroujerdi said, "Naturally, Mrs. Clinton’s remarks in such a situation aim at putting blame on other countries to answer the US and world's public opinion about harsh and violent treatment which go against democratic principles.”
He added, “The Americans are not honest for holding talks with Iran. The US Congress has passed millions of dozen of dollars to confront the Islamic Republic of Iran and put the most political pressures on Iran concerning nuclear and human rights issues, whereas Americans are forerunner of issuing sanction resolutions.”
He also referred to withdrawal of the US forces from Iraqi soil and said, “The US President Barack Obama had proposed withdrawal of the country’s forces from Iraqi land in his presidential campaign which did not come to reality. He is making plans to convince the US public opinion that he has fulfilled his promises to pave the way for the next round of the elections.”
Referring to the US huge investment in Iraqi war, Boroujerdi said, “Although the US officials have spent $1000 billion and lost 4000 forces in Iraq, they have failed to win the hearts of Iraqi nation. Americans are unpopular in Iraq as well. One of the main reasons for terrorist actions in Iraq is the result of the US policies, interferences and programs which are in line with their own objectives.”
