TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Tuesday the country has not received any document on identity of an individual arrested in the US due to alleged link to an assassination plot.

"The claim which lacks legal documentation is only based on remarks of the US intelligence officers who received the information through claims made by an individual. The individual (arrested one) has a record full of legal cases, but no document has been presented for non of the claims," he told reporters in his weekly briefing session.

"We will put pursuit of the issue on our agenda and use all approaches to defend rights of our nation and remove the claims."

Also concerning a US official's claim that the arrested individual could access his consulate, he said, "We need to be provided with identity documents of the individual allegedly said to be an Iranian national. We have not received anything yet directly despite the fact that we have called for it twice. It was a remark only by a US State Department Spokesman which does not specify the way the consular access is provided."

Also regarding Ban Ki-moon's remarks on sending Iran, the US and Saudi Arabian letters to the UN Security Council, he said, "We have sent a letter to the UN and announced our complaint on the issue."

The US Justice Department accused Iran of plotting to assassinate Saudi Arabian ambassador to Washington Adel al-Jubeir on October 11, 2011.

Iran has rejected the "baseless" allegation and said that the US only aims to divert public opinion from regional troubles through raising such allegations.
