TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said the country was astonished by the US baseless accusation.

Salehi said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has always considered regional and international stability on top of its priority. We were astonished when we heard the US recent baseless allegation. The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has called the allegation beyond a myth and also the country’s Head of Intelligence and Security Agency said it was similar to a Hollywood script.”

“Exact and complete investigation of documents released by the US administration shows the country’s allegation is based on the personal inference of a security officer from claims of individuals with bad records linked to international trafficking channels. What common sense and peace-seeking government will permit itself to bring up such allegation and accusation based on personal inference!,”Salehi noted.

He continued, “The first logical question is that which country will gain benefit from the issue? The second one is to ask what the legal documents to prove their claims are. Why that country (US) has not permitted consular access to the suspect despite two official requests? Why no one has ever appeared in TV program as a lawyer of the suspect as it used to be as a conventional procedure?

He continued, “Why the issue has been directly released through press instead of being pursued through diplomatic channels?”
