Tehran, Oct 14, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, says Basiji spirit should get ever growing in all pillars and segments of Iranian society.
Addressing thousands of Basijis in western Kermanshah Province, Ayatollah Khamenei said Iranian nation will conquer peaks of power globally thanks to the Basiji spirit.
Outlining the origination of Basij and its distinctive features, the Supreme Leader said it is one of the everlasting legacies and miracles of the founder of the Islamic Republic and father of Islamic Revolution the late Imam Khomeini.
The Ayatollah touched on lofty aspirations of the Islamic establishment of Iran and its resistance against the hegemonic and arrogant systems, saying such a system (Iran’s Islamic establishment) would definitely face many challenges always and that's why the late Imam Khomeini founded Basij to stand as one of the pillars of country’s constant defense.
Ayatollah Khamenei then quoted the late Imam Khomeini as saying about Basij, “No power would have an eye on a country having 20 million strong force who are ready for defense, and the country would hence remain invincible.”
The Paramount Leader said that however, the Basiji-like readiness does not mean having a military society, rather it means that all should be ready for defense and campaign and any nation being ready for campaign at large would not be defeated as the axis of such an initiative was the late Imam Khomeini.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the Basij, that meant grouping 20 million strong force in the year 1979, is now meant getting tens of million for the purpose. Of course those were the military and defense aspects of Basij as it covers yet other dimensions such as science, initiation and innovation, added the Ayatollah.
Basiji spirit concerns many things such as Basiji-style scientific progress and education, Basiji-like generation of wealth and economy, Basiji-like politics, Basiji-like management and Basiji-like organization, said the Supreme Leader.
Definitely, said the Ayatollah, challenges and campaign would continue until final victory, so the Islamic establishment will remain always in need of a strong, vigilant, firm and prepared defensive force, i.e. Basiji spirit in the defensive sphere.
Ayatollah Khamenei said patience, resistance and faith in divine promise of victory are the main factors for victory over the front of justice, adding that Basiji spirit in the defensive, law enforcement, government and diplomatic fields would expedite such a victory.
Elsewhere in his address, the Supreme Leader said defense of the irrevocable Islamic principles is among the most important duties of Basij. Basij maintains a 'beyond-age' role with respect to general movement of the Islamic Revolution and establishment and it would stand against diversion(s), if any, of the direct path of the revolution and system.
The Basij and Basiji would observe the law, said Ayatollah Khamenei, adding that however, if unnecessary laws and regulations face Basij and spread of Basiji spirit, the ones, who are in charge of changing the laws, should roll up sleeves to remove the impediments.
The Supreme Leader said the youth are now adhering to Islamic ideology and values more than early in the beginning of the Islamic Revolution.
Addressing those who have turned a 'blind eye' to positive aspects and progresses and only see abnormalities, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “That’s a wrong method. True, there are abnormalities but they are turning to be eliminated; so that is the sign of betterment of affaires.”
Ayatollah Khamenei said contrary to expectations of enemies and hostile ill-wishers, the country would have a very brilliant future. “The Islamic Revolution has had a successful movement due to tangible experiences and existing realities as well as the 32-year outstanding achievements of the Iranian nation.”
The forward looking movement and progress of the revolution does not mean there is no problem, said the Paramount Leader, adding that rich experiences gained in different sectors can inspire directors in the macro and different sections.
Also addressing the audience, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Major General Mohammad-Ali Jaafari said all the IRGC units in western regions of the country have high defensive readiness.
