IRGC commander terms US recent anti-Iran plot as baseless
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Oct 13, IRNA -- Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami said Wednesday that US latest accusation against Iran was 'hilarious and baseless.'
The US Justice Department accused Iran Tuesday night of involvement in a plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Washington, Adel Al-Jubeir, with the help of a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel.
Rejecting the accusation, Salami told reporters, “The recurrent failures and frustrations of the US leaders’ foreign policies have prompted them to make an attempt to divert the international community's attention from the ongoing collapse of the capitalist establishment by raising ridiculous and baseless disputes to create rift among Muslims.”
He added that Washington's main motive was to mislead international attention from the ongoing protests it was facing.
