IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

New York, Sept 23, IRNA -- Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that if the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) provides Iran’s research nuclear reactor facility with its required fuel, there will no need for uranium enrichment up to the level of 20%.

President Ahmadinejad made the remarks among senior editors and managers of US media in New York on Thursday.

“We need to enrich nuclear fuel up to the level of 20 percent for our research reactor in order to be able to treat 800,000 patients,” he told American media editors.

President Ahmadinejad pointed out that Iran has spent a lot of money for setting up nuclear plants to produce 20%-enriched uranium.

“If IAEA or those countries with access to the required technology guarantee that will procure Tehran research reactor with enriched uranium, we will stop enrichment up to the level of 20 percent,” he added.
