Iran releases two US nationals on bail deal

TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iranian Judiciary released the two US nationals arrested due to illegal entry into Iranian soil on Wednesday.

"Omani government has provided the bail set by the court and my clients will be released in hours," the three Americans' lawyer Masoud Shafiei told ISNA.

"I went to Branch 36 of Appeal Court located in Revolution Court Wednesday and I found out that the court has accepted to change their arrest sentence to bail deal," he added.

The lawyer continued he has informed Swiss embassy in Tehran of the issue. "I will go to Evin Prison at 15:00 local time."

Branch 36 of Tehran Appeal Court agreed to change temporary arrest sentence of the two US nationals to $500,000 bail deal.

The two US nationals each was sentenced to eight-year imprisonment. The two Americans are free until the final verdict is issued.

The two US nationals were arrested in July 2009 and were sentenced to 8 years in prison last month.

The other American, Sarah Shroud, was released due to health conditions in September 2010 on $500,000 bail.
