TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Force evacuated the main base of PJAK terrorist group in northwestern Iran.
The forces were stationed in Sardasht border town, West Azerbaijan Province.
"Members of counter-revolutionary forces were annihilated in northwestern Iran and security was established following mighty operation by IRGC forces," the IRGC said in a statement.
PJAK members regularly engage in armed clashes with Iranian security forces along the country's western borders with Iraqi Kurdistan region.
Nearly 30 terrorists had been killed or injured in the recent IRGC operations.
Iran has recently deployed 5,000 military forces in the northwest of the country, along its common border with the Iraqi Kurdistan region, to fight terrorist groups.
Iran started bombardment of the group's bases after a one-month pause during the holy fasting months of Ramadan.
