TEHRAN (ISNA) – The Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency, Fereydoon Abbasi said, "The process of centrifuges production will be corrected and optimized."
He continued, "There would be no reason to install the previous machines with low efficiency if we would be able to increase the age of the current machines by an appropriate management."
"We are willing to enhance the production process of the machines and launch new production line, so that we can produce new generation of the centrifuges as well," he added.
Abbasi added, "We will increase the number of the first generation of the centrifuges in Natanz nuclear facility as optimizing them."
As to using the new generation of centrifuges in “Fordo” nuclear facility Abbasi added, “New generation of the centrifuges has not reached to the volume of production yet. We should undertake required tests and precede the process noticing the standards and we are not in a hurry over the issue.”
As to the production of 20-percent fuel Abbasi noted, “There would be no reason to spend more in fuel production if we would be confident about the resources and production.”
He continued,” The fuel production should be continued, because a 5MW reactor’s fuel should be partially changed each year.”
“Some local manufacturers providing us with the required equipments have not been able to fulfill their promises so far due to their internal problems and we are awaiting to receive the equipments to take the required measures regarding the fuel production," Abbasi said referring to the delay occurred in providing the fuel for the reactor due in September is postponed by 2011.
Abbasi turned to Iran’s position in the world regarding its new progressions and added, “Once the IAEA and other countries said Iran should not produce enriched uranium, now they stress Iran should stop producing 20-percent fuel production. Enemies have always tried to prevent Iran’s atomic progression through various measures.”
He added,” Iran will cooperate with the IAEA providing that it respects Iran's nuclear rights.”
