TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) killed and injured 30 members of PJAK terrorist group as it started complete cleaning of northwestern Iranian border from bandits.

The attacks have been resumed since Friday after the group failed to comply with Iran's one-month deadline to withdraw forces from northwestern Iran and end terror attempts in the districts. The deadline expired on Friday.

An IRGC Commander Hamid Ahmadi said, “An interval occurred in IRGC operations against PJAK terrorist group came due to Iraqi Kurdish regional government's demand and the holy month of Ramadan.”

He added, “IRGC set one-month deadline to the terrorist group following mediation of Iraqi Kurdish regional government, providing that during the given time the group entirely leaves Iran's western and north western borders and avoids any terrorist attack in the area.”

He went on to say, ”Unfortunately PJAK terrorist group refused to obey the regional government’ request and killed two native Kurdish forces by shooting and mortar launch. The act showed to the regional government that terrorists pay no heed to the requests.”

He continued, “Despite counter-revolution and western smear campaign, Kurdish regional government and Iraqi central state have not shown any reaction to IRGC new round of operations against PJAK.”

He stressed IRGC operations against PJAK terrorist group would continue until the terrorist group entirely leaves the area and that suitable security would be established for the people of the districts.”
