Iran sentences physicist assassin to death

TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iranian Prosecutor General Gholam Reza Mohseni-Ejei said the culprit involved in assassination of Iranian physicist was sentenced to death.

"Ali Jamali Fashi, the assassin involved in killing Masoud Ali-Mohammadi was sentenced to death due to charges of waging war against God (Moharebeh) and corruption on the earth," Mohseni-Ejei told ISNA.

He said, "the verdict had been issued by Branch 15 of Tehran Revolution Court and were handed to Fashi's lawyer."

The hearing session of the assassin was held August 23 in Branch 15 of Tehran Revolution Court.

Professor Ali-Mohammadi, a lecturer at Tehran University, was killed when an explosive-laden motorbike was detonated with a remote-controlled device near his home in the Qeytariyeh neighborhood of northern Tehran on January 12, 2010.
