Iran unveils indigenous defense projects

TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iran unveiled locally-made defense projects including missile, torpedo and sea engine on Tuesday.

The opening ceremony came in presence of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

"Qader" missile included in naval Cruise missile types enjoys the range of 200 km, high annihilation capability, light weight and high precision and is able to be used against boats, war ships and coastal targets. It is capable of shooting from both coast and ship.

Also locally-made "Valfajr" torpedo system carrying a 220-kg warhead is another project able to destroy the enemy's heavy boats.

It would be launched from sub-marine crafts and is able to carry out operations in volatile naval condition in shallow and deep waters. It is armed with defense and weaponry. All tests were conducted on the torpedo successfully.

Also a sea engine named "Bonyan" was another defense project with 850 horsepower whose systems and devices are under construction as well.

The engine would be used in combatant and non-combatant crafts.
