TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran appointed Rostam Qasemi as Oil Minister on Wednesday.
The nomination came as Iranian Parliament discussed giving vote of confidence to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's candidates for newly established ministries.
In a letter to the Parliament on July 27, President Ahmadinejad introduced Mehdi Ghazanfari, Rostam Qasemi, Mohammad Abbasi and Abdolreza Sheikholeslami for ministers at the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Ministry of Oil, Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Ministry of Labor, Cooperatives and Social Welfare respectively.
Iranian President attended the Parliament on Wednesday for a 10-day defense for his candidate ministers.
Qasemi's vote was 216 yes, 22 no and 7 abstentions.
Also Mohammad Abbasi was named as Minister of Sports and Youth with 218 votes, Mehdi Ghazanfari wining 218 votes for Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and Abdolreza Sheikholeslami with 204 votes for Ministry of Labor, Cooperatives and Social Welfare.
