FM: Ties to be resumed with Egypt after restrictions lifted

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran and Egypt would resume relations after restrictions are lifted, said Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on Tuesday.
"We are optimistic on relations with Egypt and I think ties would be resumed after limitations in Egypt are lifted," Salehi said adding, "we hope grounds would be set for reestablishment of mutual ties after Egypt's elections."
"We are in contact with Egypt directly and indirectly. We had talks with Egyptian foreign minister in Oman. We also exchanged messages through the Head of Iranian Interests Section in Cairo," he noted.
"Iran and Egypt are two important pillars in the Islamic World and the region," Iranian Chief Diplomat added.
Also regarding Bushehr nuclear power plant, he said, "the nuclear facility is in critical phase at the moment and is approaching the phase of producing steam. We hope steam production will hit the required level to enter into turbine and run it."
He added, "we hope Bushehr nuclear power plant will join national grid experimentally and that power will be generated after the experimental phase."
Salehi then continued, "we will hold a great celebration for launch of Bushehr power plant at a scheduled time with some foreign guests will join."
Meanwhile as to his trip to Saudi Arabia, he said, "such a trip has not been predicted."
As to his travels to some regional countries including Syria, he said, "diplomatic trips occur with a specified goal and schedule. The trips are not planned by Iranian officials. Some countries including some European states have raised demands for trips of Iranian authorities including foreign ministry officials.
