FM spokesman refutes any missile cooperation with N Korea
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, May 17, IRNA -- The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry rejected Tuesday any missile cooperation with North Korea, calling it as propaganda conducted by some western states.
Talking to reporters during his weekly press briefing, Ramin Mehmanparast said Iran enjoys the technical knowledge on this issue and there is no need to gain related experiences from other states.
About the regional developments especially Bahrain's crisis, Mehmanparast said holding talks can help countries' rulers understand their peoples' legal demands.
On visit of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal to Iran, the spokesman said he has heard no news on that issue.
However, he added negotiations between Iranian and Saudi officials will contribute to better understanding of region's critical situation in order to find solution and bring about peace to the region.
Asked about Tehran-Cairo relations, Mehmanparast said the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes cordial ties with Egypt.
About the recent sanctions on Iran by the US Congress, Mehmanparast opined that this is an issue which has been repeated by Americans over and over and it is of course 'fruitless.'
Anyone who commits crimes against humanity should be put on trial, Mehmanparast said while pointing to the officials of the Zionist regime and some world leaders as well as Libya's Muammar Gaddafi.
He further referred to US and some western countries' officials who should be brought to justice because of their crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Aggressive attempts in some states including Bahrain and Yemen will make the problems more complicated, said Mehmanparast.
About the IMF chief's arrest, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said this is a political question and the issue is related to a sex scandal either.
IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn was arrested Monday after he was charged with trying to rape a hotel maid.
