According to the Navy’s Public Relations Department, the issue was raised in a ceremony in presence of the two countries navy commanders to welcome the Iranian fleet which crossed the Suez Canal and entered the Mediterranean Sea for the first time since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
“Iran’s Navy is capable to cooperate with its Syrian counterpart in technical fields and fighting the evil phenomenon of piracy,” he said.
Referring to Iran’s efforts to indigenize the technologies despite the sanctions, he said that building the destroyer Jamaran is an example of the Iranians’ self-reliance.
