Iran vessels enter Suez Canal

Damascus, Feb 22, IRNA -- An informed source told IRNA Tuesday that the Iranian vessels entered the Suez Canal today in order to leave for the Mediterranean Sea and the Syrian port of Lazeqiyeh.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source said the Iranain vessels are to dock in west of Syria within the framework of brotherly meetings between the two countries.
The informed source said this exchange of visits between the navies of friendly countries are quite usual and they aim to promote their bilateral cooperation.
None of the Iranian naval ships have traversed the Suez Canal since the Islamic Revolution happened in Iran in 1979 that led to deteriorating Tehran-Cairo ties.
