Iran to install, run long-range radar systems soon

TEHRAN (ISNA)-An Iranian military official said on Saturday that the country intends to install and run long-range radar systems in different parts of the country in near future.

As for method for locating proper places for installation of these systems, deputy of Khatamol-Anbia air base for communications and information technology Hamid Arjangi said, "we had predicted and identified specific parts of the country which were in accordance with the coverage of the radar system of the air defense base."

According to Arjangi, long ranged radars consist of two types, one for covering distances up to 1000 km and the other for up to 3000 km.

"Both of these systems are installed and launched in proportion to their range and wave types," he told ISNA.

He added," a considerable part of the preliminary stages such as installing the antennas have been carried out so far and the main systems will be put into the orbit soon."

Arjangi also said the country has managed to expand technology of immediate transfer of information within the country's monitoring network and continued, "we have reached a pretty advanced technology in this domain, a part of which has been successfully put into test in the recent military drill."
