Iran, G5+1 start 3rd round of talks

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Istanbul, Jan 22, IRNA -- Secretary of Supreme National Security Council of Iran Saeed Jalili and Group 5+1 member countries, comprising the US, the UK, Russia, China and France plus Germany, started third round of talks here on Saturday.

The first and second rounds of talks between the two sides were held in the Turkish capital city of Istanbul on Friday.

Prior to his second round of negotiations, Iran's Jalili held meetings with the European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton, representatives of China and Russia as well as his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu.

The negotiations were held behind the closed doors and the media were not informed of the issues of talks or the outcomes.

Due to the existing positive atmosphere between the two sides, the talks are expected to have acceptable outcomes.

Recognizing Iran's nuclear technology and lifting unfair sanctions on the country are among major issues on which the sides are to confer.
