Salehi: Arak nuclear research reactor to go on stream in three years

Arak, Markazi prov., Jan 15, IRNA -- Vice-President and head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Ali Akbar Salehi, said on Saturday that 40-megawatts Arak research reactor will be commissioned within the next 2-3 years.

Speaking to reporters, Salehi said Arak reactor is to meet the country’s demands for radio isotopes and possible extra output will be exported abroad.

He said once again that Iran renounces Weapons of Mass Destruction in line with the ideological belief of Iranian nation and the Islamic commands which are much stronger than any other weapons.

'The Iranian nation with reliance upon Islam will powerfully stand against the bullying powers. Iran does not need WMDs,' he said.

Iranian nation are vigilant and are determined to pave their righteous path, he said.

He advised the countries which prefer confrontation to cooperation that they will pay for their misdeeds.

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to share its technical achievements with the other countries in line with the Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Safeguards Agreement of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
