Chinese envoy in Geneva: Western countries' stance different from the past

Geneva, Dec 6, IRNA -- Head of the Chinese Delegation to Geneva talks between Iran and 5+1 Group said that western countries' stance in Monday morning talks was different from theirs in the past.

In a meeting with Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hailong added, 'In my view, today's talks were held in a peaceful atmosphere.'

According to him, 5+1 Group was interested in dialogue in today's talks.

Jalili, for his part, said, 'I believe that they have understood that their wrong strategy will produce no result.'

Meanwhile, head of the Russian delegation to Geneva talks Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that the talks were necessary.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Jalili.

'We try to help remove the problems facing the talks,' he said.

Jalili also said that Iran attaches special importance to its ties with Russia.

There are various areas of cooperation between the two countries, he said.
