Iran, one of main countries in power plant construction: official

Tehran, Nov 16, IRNA -- Deputy Energy Minister Esmaeil Mahsouli said here on Tuesday that Iran is one of the main and distinguished countries in the world in the field of power plant construction.
Addressing the congress of senior managers of the ministry nationwide, he also said that currently, Iran exports a lot of technical and engineering services to countries in the region and world.
The ministry seeks to promote international cooperation and establish Iran as one of the strategic centers of energy in the region, he said.
Mahsouli also said, 'We can cut dependency on oil revenues by increasing export of technical and engineering services.'
Promoting collaboration with the Central Asian, African and Latin American countries is also on the ministry's agenda, he said.
The official also pointed out that currently, more than 50 projects with a worth of $2.2 billion are being implemented by Iranian experts in 20 countries.
Most of the projects being implemented are in Syria, Iraq and Tajikistan, he said, noting that Sri Lanka and Syria have managed to attract the highest investments from Iran.
Mahsouli also noted that Iran exchanges electricity with all its neighbors.
