US selfishly rejects Turkey, Brazil joining to G5+1 talks with Iran
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Nov 11, IRNA -- US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has in a self-centered move rejected Turkey and Brazil's presence in the upcoming talks of the Western states with Iran.
She has said that the talks should only be held within the framework of the 5+1 Group.
Western media reports said Clinton stated on Wednesday that only representatives of the G5+1 member states should attend the first round of talks with Iran.
She also said that the time and venue of the talks should only be fixed by High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton on behalf of the G5+1 states.
Iran has previously announced that it preferred Turkey to be the host of the next round of talks with the Western states.
Moreover, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili who also heads Iran's negotiating team in nuclear talks, has already suggested to Ashton the holding of the talks either on November 23 or December 5.
According to diplomatic sources, Clinton's latest move was against international norms.
They also referred to her Wednesday's statements as an act to impede the holding of the talks.
Commenting on the issue, a Western diplomat told IRNA in Vienna, that while referring to Iran's nuclear issue, the US keeps talking about 'international community' and its protest against Iran.
'Now the question is that whether Turkey and Brazil are members of the international community or not?' argued the Western diplomat urging to remain anonymous.
He added ironically, perhaps there 'is a virtual international community only discovered by the US.'
Another analyst told IRNA in Turkey on Thursday that comments of the US secretary of state were 'disappointing' and 'against international relations.'
'While President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran talked about Tehran's agreement for talks and cooperating on removing international problems and concerns as well as promoting global peace and security, the latest statements made by the US secretary of state were like swimming against the current,' he added.
The analyst also said that such dual behaviors indicated some 'behind the scene problems.'
He also said it seemed that the US was presently in high row with Europe more than ever.
President Ahmadinejad has recently urged the negotiating parties to avoid 'prejudice and arrogance' and come for talks in 'equal conditions.'
