Russian deputy FM: Fuel swap deal should be discussed in Vienna Group talks
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Nov 9, IRNA -- Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said here on Tuesday that the issue of fuel swap should be discussed during the Vienna Group's talks with Iran.
Asked about the US' new proposal on fuel swap, he said that now the most important issue is the agreement to transfer uranium with lower degree of enrichment to the third country by Iran.
He also added the initiative was floated by Russia, the US and France.
'We have welcomed the idea and are now trying to have closer viewpoints,' he said.
Commenting on 5+1 Group talks, Ryabkov said, 'I think all the fundamental issues should be dealt with during the negotiations.'
In response to the fact that Iran has announced it's ready to swap fuel within the framework of Tehran Declaration, he said that this should also be negotiated with Iran during the Vienna meeting.
The most important issue now is the contents of the talks and Iran's meeting with 5+1 Group, he noted.
Referring to Iran's readiness to hold talks with the group in Turkey, he also said that Russia welcomes the group's talks with Iran and as well as the negotiations of Vienna Group with Tehran.
