Iran's navy checking every move in regional waters - commander
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Oct 31, IRNA -- Commander of the Iranian navy Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said Sunday that Iran was vigilantly monitoring every move in the regional waters.
He made the remark while visiting IRNA stand at an ongoing Press Fair in the Iranian capital.
The admiral also criticized certain moves made by some Western states in cooperation with a number of regional countries to militarize the region.
Referring to huge military contracts made between certain regional states and the West, Sayyari said, 'As was recently mentioned by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, no country would become powerful by lining foreigners' pockets.'
'Power comes from unity in the society and a nation with martyrdom-seeking spirit,' the admiral added, recalling the Supreme Leader's recent statements.
He stressed that Iran's naval force has been present in the open seas since more than two years ago and has provided security for the oil tankers and other liners sailing through regional waters.
