Ashton and transition over answer diplomacy
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Oct 26, IRNA -- European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton is now in a state of 'transition over answer diplomacy' by not responding to the questions posed in the letter of Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council.
In his October 22 letter to Jalili, she once again tried to throw the ball of talks to Iran's court.
Although Iran has on several occasions voiced its readiness to talk with 5+1 Group, the West has not yet done anything to indicate its willingness to return to talks in a fair ambience.
5+1 Group comprises five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.
The last round of talks was held in October last year, almost a year ago.
In a letter to Ashton's request for talks earlier in July, Jalili rejected the strategy of 'talks under pressure' and recalled Iran's demands reflected in its proposed package in May 2008.
He underlined that Iran is ready for talks based on its package of proposals and does not accept any illegal move.
In the same letter, he also contended that negotiations require commitment on the part of the parties involved to implement the NPT and adopt a clear stance on the behaviors beyond the document, including nuclear activities of the Zionist regime.
He posed three questions in the letter which have yet to be addressed.
The questions are: Is the goal of talks interaction and cooperation or the continuation of enmity towards Iran?.
Will you remain committed to the logic of negotiations which requires avoidance of threats or pressure?
What is your opinion about the Zionist regime's nuclear arsenals?
These are the questions of Iran and the world which have remained unanswered.
The West has so far adopted a double standard policy regarding Iran's nuclear program as it contradicts their owned declared procedures.
In fact Iran's letter meant to pave the grounds for talks and it has adopted transparent stance to redefine the talks.
This is while Ashton represents a group which consider the talks as a means for mounting further pressure.
Iran has adopted a clear stance on the talks and exposed signs of contradictions in behavior of the other party involved in the talks.
