Electricity to be generated by Bushehr power plant in due time
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Oct 5, IRNA -- The Bushehr nuclear power plant would start generating electricity according to the previous schedule, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Tuesday.
'Nothing would cause a delay in Iran's nuclear activities,' the spokesman told reporters at his weekly press briefing.
He made the remarks commenting on reports by Western media that the delay in injecting fuel to the core of Iran's first nuclear power plant's reactor was because the facility was targeted by the Stuxnet virus.
'It is hard for the Western states to tolerate the progress of Iran's peaceful nuclear program,' Mehmanparast said.
'Western states are trying to stop Iran's (nuclear) activities by embarking on psychological warfare and aggrandizing but Iran would by no means give up its rights by such measures,' Mehmanparast said.
He stressed that the possible delay in loading nuclear fuel into the core of the Bushehr nuclear power plant was for 'technical reasons.'
It was originally reported that nuclear fuel would be injected into the reactor's core in the first half of the seventh Iranian calendar month of Mehr (September 23-October 22) but the date has later changed into the second half of the month.
