Judiciary chief: Ban on Iranian officials sign of US desperation

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Oct 3, IRNA -- Iran's judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani said on Sunday that irrational behavior such as imposing ban on Iranian officials are sign of US desperation in dealing with brave resistance of the Iranian nation and officials.

Addressing a group of judicial officials, he said this is not justifiable for a president, who claims to be advocate of human rights, to take such irrational measure and this proves that they do not abide by rule of law and falsely advocates human rights.

Criticizing the West’s double-standard policies mainly the US in dealing with the issue of human rights, he said every fair and broad-minded person expresses regret over such misbehavior.

Such illogical and unfair measures by US officials indicate that they are in state of bewildering in dealing with the Islamic Republic of Iran, he pointed out.

Referring to Iraq’s developments, he said the Iranian people and government call for restoration of tranquility and stability to the war-torn Iraq and “We hope after many military and political confrontations the country would eventually succeed in forming a cabinet.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran along with other countries of the region want an independent and safe Iraq, Larijani said.
