US sanctions on Iranian officials, interference in internal affairs
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Oct 3, IRNA -- Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said on Sunday that the US sanctions on Iranian officials reveal desperation of the US officials and interference in Iranian internal affairs.
Najjar said that such a novice move signifies lack of balance in US administration's foreign policy.
Najjar's remarks came after the US government imposed sanctions on eight senior Iranian officials, accusing them of human rights abuses during the Western-led post-election unrest following Iran's last presidential elections over a year ago.
'Iran's advancements in all fields and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's expository speech in the UN General Assembly has made the Americans angry,' he pointed out.
Three main questions posed by President Ahmadinejad in the US General Assembly on forming a fact-finding committee to probe September 11 terror attacks, veto right of the United Nations Security Council permanent members and nuclear disarmament has disturbed the Obama's administration, he said, adding that the queries exposed the White House's illogicalness.
While the Americans call themselves as advocates of the human rights, democracy and freedom, their performance is against international norms and principles and they themselves clearly violate human rights, he said.
'Iran's nation will turn threats into opportunity and achieve self-sufficiency in all fields,' he said.
