Iran advises neighboring, friendly states not to play in US pitch

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Sept 27, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Monday advised the neighboring and friendly states not to play in the US pitch.

Speaking to reporters, he said the US along with some western countries seek to exert political pressure on Iran but 'we expect our neighboring states to adopt a different approach to this effect.'

Mehmanparast said that the decree issued by the Russian president on implementation of resolution 1929 is an improper response to Tehran Declaration signed by Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

“We have already declared resolution 1929 is unjust and based on discriminatory and political objectives,” he said.

Mehmanparast said that Iran never welcomes sanctions and that repetition of such failed policies cannot stop Iran from achieving legitimate goals in line with Non-Proliferation Treaty.

On the delay Russia made in delivery of missiles S300s to Iran under the pretext of Resolution 1929, he said the resolution 1929 has nothing to do with such a defense system.

Iran and Russia have agreed on purchase of the missile system many years before the resolution 1929 and that the S300s missile systems are defensive, he said.
