IAEA report on Iran, beyond domain of its legal tasks: FM spokesman
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Sept 21, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said here on Tuesday that the recent IAEA report on Iran’s nuclear program was beyond the domain of its legal duties.
Talking to reporters during his weekly press briefing, he reiterated that the report recently released by the International Atomic Energy Agency was politically motivated and issued under the pressure of certain countries.
Tehran believes that the UN nuclear watchdog has violated its tasks, he said, adding that such moves would possibly damage the credibility and prestige of the agency in the future.
The context of some articles of the IAEA reports is similar to that of the UN Security Council’s illegal resolutions issued against Iran, Mehman-Parast said.
On the Afghan parliamentary elections, he said Tehran welcomes the presence of Afghan people at the polling stations in order to take part in deciding their country’s fate.
He reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is seeking regional peace and security.
Asked about Iran-UAE trade exchanges, Mehman-Parast announced that the trade relation between the Islamic Republic and the United Arab Emirates is at a very desirable level.
He added that the two countries’ leaders are determined to further boost bilateral ties in all areas.
