Ahmadinejad rejects claim of growing influence of military in Iran

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Sept 18, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has rejected US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's claim about military's increasing power in Iran.

President Ahmadinejad rejected Clinton's remarks, saying, 'I recommend this lady to think before talking and make some studies [about Iran].'

He said it was ironic for a country, whose military budget is equal to those of all other nations combined, to accuse Iran of being a military state.

'How can one claim that the military governs Iran, while in recent elections about 85 percent of eligible voters took part. Are all those people militarymen?'

President Ahmadinejad's New York visit has been given high coverage by media worldwide.
