Iran postpones release of US spy

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Sept 11, IRNA -- Head of the Communications and Information Affairs Department at Iran’s Presidential Office Mohammad-Hassan Salehi says Iran has postponed freedom of one of the three US spies who were detained southwest of the country last year.

“The US spy’s freedom, which was to take place in a ceremony here on Saturday, has been postponed,” said Salehi in an interview with IRNA on Saturday.

Salehi said the details on the issue will be unveiled soon.

Director General of the Domestic Press and News Agencies Affairs Department at Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance had already announced that one of the three detained Americans will be freed on Saturday, September 11.

The source did not specify any details on identity of the American who was going to be freed.

Sarah Emily Shourd, 31, Shane Michael Bauer and Joshua Felix Fattal both 27, are the three Americans who were arrested on Iranian soil in July 2009 after illegally crossing the border into Iran from the Kurdish mountains of northern Iraq.
