MPs dismiss Amano's report on Iran nuclear program, political
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Sept 8, IRNA -- A group of Iranian members of parliament on Wednesday dismissed a report issued by Director-General of International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano on Iran’s nuclear program as political, lacking technical specifications.
The group say that the IAEA under Amano has lost its independence while the member states expect the UN agency to act independently about the global issues.
Member of Majlis Judiciary and Legal Commission Hojatoleslam Mohammad Taghi Rahbar said that Iran’s peaceful nuclear program is in line with Non-Proliferation Treaty and the IAEA Safeguards Agreement and that Amano's report is a mere dictation of the US and Zionists.
This proves that IAEA has lost it independence and merely act in line with the will of hegemonic powers, he said.
MP from Isfahan said that the report indicated that the UN nuclear agency follows the U.S. lead which is against Iran’s scientific progress but they should bear in their mind that the Iranian nation never listen to them and is to vindicate its legitimate rights enshrined by NPT.
Member of Majlis Energy Commission Moayyed Hosseini Sadr said that Amano has issued a dual-use report which prepares ground for ill-wishers to fish in troubled waters.
MP from Tehran Gholam-Reza Mesbahi Moqaddam said that Amano's report is very ambiguous and does not help resolve the issue.
Iran’s nuclear activities are quite transparent and the country is determined to pave the path with firm determination, he pointed out.
'Iran’s nuclear activities are being monitored by IAEA’s inspectors and we advise them not to politicize the issue and only mind their own business,' Mesbahi Moqaddam said.
He said that the world countries have lost their trust in IAEA over its weak performance and the UN agency should strive to amend its mistakes in order to regain trust of the member states.
It is very probable that the behavior of the IAEA urges some countries to hide their nuclear activities, he said.
Another MP Sattar Hedayatkha said much to our regret the IAEA has issued a politically-motivated report on Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities away from technical consideration.
The report indicated that IAEA is under influence of global arrogance and cannot reflect realities, he said.
MP from Boyerahmad told IRNA that such reports run counter to dignity of the United Nations specialized agency and the Western countries should know that through issuance of such reports they cannot harm the will of Iranian nation.
The Iranian people are determined to continue with the right path, he said.
