Mehmanparast: Vienna Group date setting for talks to mean start of common sessions

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Sept 1, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Wednesday that Vienna Group date setting for talks will mean beginning of common sessions.

“The setting of date for talks by the Vienna Group will be regarded as esumption of common meetings with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Mehmanparast in an interview with reporters here on Wednesday.

He said Vienna Group has not yet set any official date and plan of course for continuation of talks with Tehran.

“We wait Vienna Group response and once the other party gets ready for the talks we too will start the sessions,” said Mehmanparast.

On President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s Qatar visit, Mehmanparast said visits of high-ranking regional officials to the neighboring states is “highly natural” because such trips will guarantee mutual cooperation, and help find new capacities and settle mutual and regional disputes such as the Middle East crisis and Palestine issue.

Terming the Iran-Qatar ties “very good”, Mehmanparast said the two sides share many common points. “We hope exchange of such visits with the regional states will reap good results both for us and them.”

Asked about the World Quds Day rallies, he hoped for high demo turnout in the demonstrations in a bid to disappoint the Zionist enemy.
