3rd generation of Fateh-110 missiles test fired successfully
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Aug 25, IRNA -- The third generation of Fateh-110 missiles was successfully test fired, Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Wednesday.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting here, the minister said the new solid-propellant missile had an increased range compared to its previous versions.
Fateh-110, is a single-stage solid-propellant, surface-to-surface missile produced domestically.
The initial range of the missile was 200 km but it has later extended to 250 km.
Vahidi did not mention the final range of the new generation of the missile but said it would be launched with more accuracy and go to farther distances.
Commenting on the selling of the US Patriot missiles to Kuwait to confront Iran’s possible missile attacks against that country, the brigadier general said, “Iran’s missiles have nothing to do with Kuwait as the country is no threat to us.”
Vahidi stressed that Tehran and Kuwait City enjoy cordial relations.
He stated that selling new US military systems to the regional states was taking place in line with Washington’s policy to spread Iranophobia among regional countries.
