Tehran, Aug 24, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would attend the next meeting of the United Nations General Assembly based on a clear and defined agenda, it was reported Tuesday.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast made the remarks commenting on the possibility of a meeting between the presidents of Iran and the United States on the sidelines of the next UN General Assembly meeting which is to begin in Sepetember at the body’s headquarters in New York.
“The Iranian President will be present in the UN General Assembly meeting and will put forward his views based on a defined program,” Mehman-Parast told reporters at his weekly press conference.
Referring to the issue of appointing special envoys by President Ahmadinejad for the affairs of different parts of the world, the spokesman said it was a “positive” move which is also common in other countries.
The President has recently appointed special representatives to deal with the affairs of the Middle East, Asia, Caspian Sea and Afghanistan regions.
“The move indicates the maximum significance given by President Ahmadinejad to major developments in the field of foreign policy,” Mehman-Parast added.
Commenting on the appointment of Yoav Galant as the new chief of staff of the Zionist regime’s armed forces, the spokesman said naming a war criminal in the new post was “a threat to humanity.”
Galant was announced as the main war criminal at the Zionist regime’s 22-day attacks against the defenseless people of Gaza.
Moreover, Mehman-Parast voiced Tehran’s readiness to build new nuclear power plants with the help of other countries.
